Mobile Suit Gundam 00

Mobile Suit Gundam 00 (機動戦士ガンダム00(ダブルオー), Kidō Senshi Gandamu Daburu Ō, Mobile Suit Gundam Double-O) is the seventh incarnation of Sunrise's long-running Gundam franchise consisting of two seasons. It is directed by Seiji Mizushima and written by Yōsuke Kuroda, and features character designs by Yun Kōga. The twenty-five episode season was officially announced by Sunrise during a 15-second trailer on June 2, 2007.The series aired on the Mainichi Broadcasting System and Tokyo Broadcasting System from October 5, 2007 to March 29, 2008. On July 13, 2008, a trailer announcing a second twenty-five episode season was aired. The second season began on October 5, 2008 and concluded on March 29, 2009. A movie sequel is planned for the year 2010.
Mobile Suit Gundam 00 is the first Gundam series to be animated in widescreen and in high-definition,as well as the first to be set in the non-fictional Anno Domini era. The series is set in a futuristic Earth and is centered around the exploits of the fictional paramilitary organization Celestial Being and its efforts to rid the world of war and conflict with a series of unique and extremely advanced mobile suits known as "Gundams".
Story
First season
The main tagline for the first season is Rebirth Begins Through Destruction.
The series is set in 2307 AD.As a result of the depletion of fossil fuels, humanity had to search for a new source of power. The power was found in the form of massive arrays of solar power collectors orbiting the Earth, and supported by three orbital elevators, each one serving one of the three "power blocs" on the planet, namely Union, controlling the region surrounding North America, Human Reform League (Japanese: 人類革新連盟; Romaji: jinrui kakushin renmei; Pinyin: rénlèi géxīn liánméng), consisting of China, Russia and India, and AEU, which controls mainland Europe.
With this nearly inexhaustible source of energy benefiting only the major powers and their allies, constant warfare erupts around the globe among minor countries for fuels and energy. Countries that once economically relied on the sale of fossil fuels have plunged into poverty. Some even believe that solar energy threatened the "promised land of God", resulting in the 20-year Solar Wars. This chaos led to the formation of a private military organization, called Celestial Being (ソレスタルビーイング, Soresutaru Bīingu?), dedicated to eradicating war and uniting humanity through the use of four humanoid machines called Gundams.Mobile Suit Gundam 00 follows four mobile suit pilots termed Gundam Meisters ( ガンダムマイスター, Gandamu Maisutā?), sided with Celestial Being. The main protagonist is 16-year old Setsuna F Seiei (刹那・F・セイエイ?), a quiet, taciturn young man who grew up in the war-torn Krugis Republic. He pilots the GN-001 Gundam Exia, a high mobility mobile suit effective in melee combat.
Unable to counter Celestial Being's superior technology, the three major powers eventually unite into the United Nations Army (国連軍?) in order to counter Celestial Being's armed interventions. In order to fight the Gundams, the United Nations Army employed the help of Laguna Harvey. Harvey, a Celestial Being intelligence agent turned traitor, provides them with 30 GN-X, mobile suits equipped with pseudo-GN Drives. As the United Nations resist Celestial Being's interventions, a second team of Gundams, known as Team Trinity, appears and assists in the Meisters' eradication of war, albeit in a much more cruel and cold-blooded fashion, in contrast with the original Meisters' less-aggressive nature of armed intervention.
Alejandro Corner, a former Celestial Being observer who plans to make use of the chaos and destruction created by Celestial Being to rule a reconstructed world, subsequently takes over Veda, Celestial Being's supercomputer which is located on the moon. Without the tactical aid from the organization's artificial intelligence, Celestial Being is easily overwhelmed and overpowered by GN-X units and their superior numbers.
The United Nations Army initiates Operation Fallen Angels to destroy the Gundams, having discovered the location of the Meisters' mothership, Ptolemaios. During the operation, Ali Al-Saachez kills Lockon Stratos after a climactic battle. Alejandro Corner, in his unique custom mobile armor Alvatore, attacks Gundam Exia as the GN-X units proceed to destroy the Ptolemaios and the remaining Gundams. Exia struggles with the monstrous Alvatore, but in the end succeeds in killing Alejandro. Graham Aker, an ace pilot of the United Nations Army, then challenges Setsuna to a fight, seeking revenge for his fallen comrades and questioning the purpose of Gundams' existence. The fight results in the destruction of the GN-Flag, while the Exia is heavily damaged.

Second season
Four years have passed since the final battle between Celestial Being and the UN Forces. Humanity, having established the Earth Sphere Federation, forms an autonomous peace-keeping force, A-Laws, separate from and above the formal Federation army. Given unfettered discretion, A-Laws is charged with the duty to further unify nations, enforce the will of mankind, and dispose of terrorist cells. Unknown to the general public, however, is that the A-Laws misuse their power and employ inhumane tactics to oppress freedoms, doctrines, and ideologies, all in the name of 'unity'.
Saji Crossroad has followed the path to becoming a space engineer, to keep his promise to Louise Halevy. But he ends up being mistaken for a member of the dissident organization Katharon and is unjustly imprisoned. Louise herself is compelled to become involved in Federation government reform and joined A-Laws as a mobile suit pilot during the four-year gap, using her family inheritance to fund A-Laws research.
Meanwhile, Setsuna, having survived the battle with Graham Aker four years ago and is in hiding, has witnessed a change in the world due to the actions of Celestial Being. Setsuna tries to confront the A-Laws by himself with his battered Gundam Exia, but is easily overpowered by their newer models. He is soon rescued by Tieria Erde, piloting his new mobile suit, the Seravee Gundam.
By combining the GN Drives of Exia and 0 Gundam, Celestial Being's engineers manage to complete Aeolia's plans for an advanced mobile suit with twin GN drives - the 00 Gundam - which is entrusted to Setsuna. To pilot the two remaining new units, Lockon Stratos' twin brother is invited to assume his brother's codename and former position as the pilot of the Cherudim Gundam, and after Allelujah Haptism is rescued from the prison he was being detained in during the timeskip, he assumes the command of Arios Gundam.
Unknown to Celestial Being and the A-Laws, a third party is manipulating both sides of the conflict. This group call themselves "Innovators", composed of Alejandro Corner's former assistant Ribbons Almark, and his six subordinates. Subsequently, it is revealed that Aeolia Schenberg's plan is to ensure humanity's survival; unite the world's factions through Celestial Being's armed interventions and then advance humanity into deep space and undergo Innovation, a trans-human process.

Movie
A theatrical release was announced at the end of episode 25 of season 2, called Mobile Suit Gundam 00 The Movie: A Wakening of the Trailblazer (劇場版機動戦士ガンダム00(ダブルオー)-A Wakening of the Trailblazer-, Gekōjiban Kidō Senshi Gandamu Daburu Ō -A Wakening of the Trailblazer). The Japanese premiere has been announced for September 18, 2010.

Characters
Setsuna F Seiei (刹那・F・セイエイ, Setsuna Efu Seiei?)
Born as Soran Ibrahim, Setsuna is the primary protagonist of the show and was discovered by Celestial Being at the age of 14 for having special potential as a pilot. He is currently a Gundam Meister for their organization, piloting the Gundam Exia, and later the 00 Gundam, both specialized in close combat. Before gaining his Gundam Meister codename, he was a child soldier in the war-torn Republic of Krugis. He murdered his own parents under Ali Al-Saachez's influence in order to prove his devotion to God, and hence bears a deep hatred towards Saachez. Due to his previous religious brainwashing (and awakening from it), Setsuna no longer believes that God exists. Setsuna believes that war can only be stopped through direct confrontation, and therefore has little tolerance for diplomats and politicians, believing that their "peace talks" only lengthen the conflict and cause more casualties. Disappearing at the end of the first season, Setsuna reappears four years later and rejoins Celestial Being.
Lockon Stratos (ロックオン・ストラトス, Rokkuon Sutoratosu?)
Born Neil Dylandy, Lockon decided to join Celestial Being after losing his parents and little sister to terrorists in Ireland; because of this, he loathes terrorists. As the eldest pilot, he is considered the team leader of the Gundam Meisters,[18] and sports a more easygoing, flamboyant personality as compared to the other Gundam Meisters. He owns an orange Haro to control Gundam Dynames when sniping and just like Setsuna, he has a personal feud with Ali Al-Saachez, who was directly involved in the terrorist bombing that caused the death of his family. After being killed at the climax of the first season, his younger twin brother Lyle Dylandy chooses to become the new Lockon Stratos, primarily to help spy on Celestial Being for the dissident group Katharon. He pilots the Cherudim Gundam, which is also specialized in long range combat. Later on, he falls in love with a new member of the Ptolemy, Anew Returner.
Allelujah Haptism (アレルヤ・ハプティズム, Areruya Haputizumu?)
Allelujah spent his childhood as an orphan in the Human Reform League as a Super Soldier experimental subject, designated "E-57". While generally gentle and rational compared to the other Gundam Meisters, he has another harsher, unstable, and outright sadistic alter ego, named Hallelujah inside him, which was the result of the Super Soldier experiments. His main rival in combat is another subject of the Super Soldier program, the HRL pilot Soma Peries who shares a mysterious connection with him.He is the pilot of Gundam Kyrios, and later, the Arios Gundam, both of which specialize in high mobility and are able to transform into mobile armors (fighter jets). Allelujah is imprisoned during the four year timeskip between both seasons, but he ends up being rescued by his companions after the other three Meisters reunite.
Tieria Erde (ティエリア・アーデ, Tieria Āde?)
Gundam Meister of the heavily armored Gundam Virtue and its successor unit, the Seravee Gundam, Tieria treats Veda's orders with high regard, valuing the mission above all other issues; he is also able to independently access Veda directly. As a result of his arrogance and cold attitude towards others, his relationship with the other Gundam Meisters got off a rocky start, but later learns to care for the other Meisters. Of all the Gundam Meisters, Tieria is the most enigmatic, with an unknown past and a peculiar connection with the Innovators.Contrary of the other Meisters who were either K.I.A. or M.I.A. in the end of the first season, Tieria continued to work for Celestial Being during the 4 year timeskip. Tieria first appears in the second season rescuing Setsuna in his battered Exia from A-Laws' mobile suits; Tieria then brings Setsuna back to Celestial Being to resume his position.

Mobile Suit Gundam SEED

Mobile Suit Gundam SEED (機動戦士ガンダムSEED (シード), Kidō Senshi Gandamu Shīdo?) is an anime television series, developed by Sunrise and directed by Mitsuo Fukuda. The plot follows Kira Yamato's involvement in the war between Naturals and Coordinators; humans who are genetically modified before birth to possess enhanced traits.
The series spans fifty episodes, which broadcasted in Japan from October 5, 2002 to September 27, 2003 on the JNN TV stations TBS and MBS. It was adapted into a manga published by Kodansha on February 17, 2003. It spanned fifty episodes, and it was aired on the same stations as its predecessor. Gundam SEED Destiny takes place two years after the original series and follows Shinn Asuka, focusing mainly on his involvement in the war.
Bandai Entertainment licensed the animation of Gundam SEED on February 15, 2004, and it began airing in the United States and Canada in 2004 and 2005 respectively. Bandai announced its license of Gundam SEED Destiny on July 2, 2005 and it began airing in the United States in 2007 and in Canada in 2008.
Mobile Suit Gundam Seed won the Animage Anime Grand Prix prize in 2002.

Plot
Mankind is divided, partially over the issue of genetic engineering administered to human test subjects. Normal humans are now known as "Naturals" and the genetically altered humans are known as "Coordinators". The series is the first of the Gundam franchise set in the Cosmic Era. This series begins with the Bloody Valentine War between the Naturals, who reside on Earth, and the Coordinators who reside in the space colonies. The Naturals’ army is called the Earth Alliance, while the military force of the Coordinators is called ZAFT.
The story begins when the neutral space colony, Heliopolis, is invaded by ZAFT because the colony had been secretly developing Mobile Suits for the war. During the invasion Kira Yamato sees his friends in danger and pilots the Mobile Suit GAT-X105 Strike in order to ward off the invaders. As Heliopolis begins to fall apart, local survivors board the Archangel and they begin their journey to the Earth Alliance's base in Alaska. Kira continues to pilot the Strike to ward off attacks by ZAFT but is seemingly killed by his childhood friend Athrun Zala during their battle. The Archangel then arrives in Alaska, and ZAFT launches a full scale attack on the Alaskan base, overpowering the Earth alliance. Kira arrives in Alaska with the ZGMF-X10A Freedom Gundam, given to him by Lacus Clyne, and ends the battle between the two armies. Hoping to end the war between the Naturals and Coordinators, Kira and the Archangel join the Orb Union. Athrun decides to search for Kira to find his reason for fighting in the war. After listening to Lacus and Kira, he joins them in their cause to end the war. In the Second Battle of Jachin Due they stop the Earth Alliance's Nuclear Weapons and ZAFT's GENESIS (super weapons built on genocide) to prevent both sides from destroying each other, and a peace treaty is eventually signed.

Mobile Suit Gundam Wing

Mobile Suit Gundam Wing (新機動戦記ガンダムW(ウイング), Shin Kidō Senki Gandamu Uingu, New Mobile Report Gundam W), released in the United States as Mobile Suit Gundam Wing, is an anime series in the mecha genre, and is one of the alternate universe Gundam series, taking place in the After Colony timeline. It is the second alternate universe in the Gundam media franchise, following Mobile Fighter G Gundam. The plot centers around a war between Earth and its colonies in space; however, in contrast to the Universal Century continuity, the Gundam pilots of Gundam Wing are more closely allied to each other than they are to any particular side in the conflict unfolding around them.
The series aired across Japan on the terrestrial TV Asahi network. The series ran for forty-nine half-hour episodes, beginning on April 7, 1995 and ending on March 29, 1996. Masashi Ikeda was the overall director of the series. Katsuyuki Sumizawa (Yoroiden Samurai Troopers) wrote the scenario for the series and was one of three official script-writers, along with Akemi Omode and Katsuhiko Chiba. Ikeda wrote one script himself and one with Omode and one with Sumizawa. Toshifumi Kawase also wrote three scripts in the latter part of the first half of the series. Kow Otani composed the music. The series was loosely based on the original 1979 series, Mobile Suit Gundam, created by Yoshiyuki Tomino and Hajime Yatate. Gundam Wing was among the first series in the Gundam franchise (not including OVAs) to be dubbed in English and was aired on Cartoon Network in the United States and briefly in the UK. Since then, the series has also been dubbed into Tagalog, French, Italian, German, Arabic, Spanish, Indonesian, Malay and Portuguese.

Plot
In the distant future, Mankind has colonized space (with clusters of space colonies at each of the five Earth-Moon Lagrange points), and, down on the Earth, the nations have united as the United Earth Sphere Alliance. However, the Alliance oppresses the colonies with its military power. The colonies desire a peaceful resolution to the situation, joining together in a movement headed by the pacifist Heero Yuy. In the year After Colony 175, Yuy is shot dead by an assassin (believed to be Odin Lowe), forcing the colonies to search for other paths to peace. The assassination also prompts five disaffected scientists from the Organization of the Zodiac, much more commonly referred to as OZ, to turn rogue after the completion of the mobile suit prototype Tallgeese.
The story of Gundam Wing begins in the year After Colony 195, with the start of "Operation: Meteor," the scientists' plan for revenge against the OZ military organization. The operation involves five teenaged boys who have each been chosen and trained by one of the five rogue scientists, then sent to Earth independently in extremely advanced mobile suits, one designed by each of the scientists, known as "Gundams." Their mobile suits are called Gundams because they are constructed from a rare and astonishingly durable material known as Gundanium alloy, which can only be created in outer space. Each Gundam is sent from a different colony and the pilots are initially unaware of the presence of the other pilots.
The series focuses primarily on the Gundam pilots; Heero Yuy (an alias, not to be confused with the martyred pacifist), Duo Maxwell, Trowa Barton, Quatre Raberba Winner, and Chang Wufei. Their Gundams are the Wing Gundam, Gundam Deathscythe, Gundam Heavyarms, Gundam Sandrock, and Shenlong Gundam respectively. Their mission is to attack OZ directly, in order to rid the Alliance of its weapons and free the colonies from its oppressive rule. The Gundam pilots each start out on separate missions, only to join up later on while on Earth. Along the way, Heero meets Relena Darlian, the daughter of Vice Foreign Minister Darlian. Relena seems like your average girl until she accompanies her father to outer space while on business. During a meeting, her father and other delegates who were discussing peace were murdered when a bomb disguised as a makeup compact was thrown into the delegation room. Before his death, the Vice Foreign Minister told Relena she was really Relena Peacecraft, heir to the pacifist Sanc Kingdom.
Although the five Gundams succeed in destroying several of OZ's supply bases and mobile suit factories, the sinister organization is still able to complete its ultimate goal of overturning the Alliance and becoming the new ruler of Earth and the colonies. The Gundams then band together for the first time, going after various points in OZ. Wufei goes after OZ's leader, Treize Kushrenada, only to be defeated. He swears to get his revenge and escapes. As the battles continue, Heero has several mobile suit battles with OZ's "Lightning Count," Zechs Merquise (whose true identity is Milliardo Peacecraft, Relena's older brother), who in his hunt for a mobile suit that can withstand a fight with a Gundam, comes across the remains of the unfinished Tallgeese. The Tallgeese was the first prototype OZ mobile suit designed by the same scientists who built the Gundams, before they defected. During their second encounter in Siberia, the colonies are held hostage by OZ's ruthless second-in-command Lady Une, and Heero, in response, self-destructs his Gundam, nearly killing himself in the process.
Later on, the Gundam pilots return to outer space, with Quatre sacrificing his Gundam to help the escape, only to find that the colonies they were sent from have now sided with OZ. This was brought about as Lady Une was sent to befriend the colonies to make peace. While this is going on, she has a much different demeanor than usual. Instead of her strict, angry OZ leader attitude, she is kindly, caring, and peaceful. This is due to her loyalty for Treize, who she may have a love interest for. This causes her to develop split personalities. One who is kindly and gentle, and one who is a strict and fearless commander. Upon returning to space, the Gundams are marked as rebels, and fall on hard times; Quatre returns home, only to witness his father's murder at the hands of OZ, while Heero, Duo, and Wufei are captured by OZ, and Trowa starts working for OZ, but does so as a double agent.
Meanwhile, the five scientists who built the Gundams wind up under OZ's employ again, this time to build new mobile suits that can stand up in a fight against the Gundams. This brings about the creation of two OZ Gundams: The Mercurius and the Vayeate. At the same time, technicians within OZ and its parent group, The Romefeller Foundation, created a new concept in mobile suit technology that allows suits to be controlled by an AI computer. This system was named the "Mobile Doll system." The system allowed for computer control to increase response time for mobile suits during battle as well as prevent human lives from being sacrificed. This upsets OZ leader, Treize Kushrenada, who was later confined to Romefeller's headquarters, as he believed that battles fought by humans was more honorable.
At this same time, the Wing Gundam Zero is introduced. This mobile suit, like the Talgeese, is the original Gundam designed by the five scientists, but was never constructed by them due to its massively destructive Twin-barrel Buster Rifle, which has the power to destroy an entire colony in one shot, as well as its signature feature, the ZERO System, a cockpit system that directly interfaces with the pilot's brain and feeds the pilot tactical data on the fly. The downside of this is that prolonged exposure causes hallucinations and in some cases, insanity. Following the death of his father, Quatre discovers the schematics for Wing Zero, left behind by Instructor H, and has it built as a replacement for his destroyed Gundam. He then uses it, only to be severely affected by the Zero System, causing him to become mentally unbalanced, and go on a rampage against OZ and the space colonies to avenge his father's death, taking out a natural resource satellite and an evacuated colony in the process. He is eventually stopped by Heero and Trowa, who were piloting the Mercurius and Vayeate respectively. As a result of the fight against Wing Zero, Trowa is nearly killed after repeat hits from "Zero's" Twin-barrel buster rifle, causing the Vayeate to explode. Trowa somehow manages to escape at the last second but from the blast suffers temporary amnesia as a result.
Wing Zero is taken into possession by OZ, who tries to test the Zero System with the hopes of possibly including it into their current mobile suits. However, Mobile Doll Chief Engineer Tuberoff sees the Gundam as a threat to his Mobile Dolls and orders it to be destroyed. Before this happens, members of a new faction of OZ, calling themselves "The Treize Faction," as they agreed with OZ's leader over the matter of the Mobile Dolls, attack and safely hide the two Gundam pilots as well as the five scientists. Ultimately, OZ was able to get Heero to run simulations in Wing Zero's cockpit, only to be adversely affected by the system, causing Heero to go on a rampage. Quatre stops him with the Mercurius just in time for Heero to hallucinate over an image of Relena. Quatre and Heero then depart to return to Earth.
Once back on Earth, Heero and Quatre take refuge in the newly reopened Sanc Kingdom, which is governed by none other than Relena, who by this time seems somewhat smitten with Heero. The kingdom however is being pressured by the Romefeller Foundation for its pacifist ways, with its leader, Duke Dermeil, to send his own granddaughter, Dorothy Catalonia, to keep an eye on Relena and report what she's up to within her kingdom. Meanwhile, from within in his confinement, Treize secretly builds the Gundam Epyon and later gives it to Heero. Much like Wing Zero, Epyon is equipped with the ZERO System, which Heero discovers very quickly. After being affected by the system, Heero fights once more against a returning Zechs, who is piloting Wing Zero. Both men fight a fierce battle against not only each other, but against OZ' new mobile doll type suits, the Virgos. After the battle ends in another draw, they exchange Gundams. At the same time, Relena formally dissolves the Sanc Kingdom due to the tremendous pressure from Romefeller. She then becomes the chief representative for the foundation (at first in image and gradually in real life) under the title Queen of the World.
Eventually, Treize is released from confinement and relieves Relena of her crown. Treize then takes control of the Romefeller Foundation and, at the same time, Zechs, who is devastated over the loss of the Sanc Kingdom, returns to space and is convinced by a man named Kannz to become the leader of the White Fang organization, under his true name of Milliardo Peacecraft. The White Fang has seized control of a Peacemillion class battleship OZ was building for Romefeller to show its military power, called Libra, as well as the new Mobile Doll suits, the Virgo II's, which were designed with the capabilities of both the Mercurius and Vayate. Zechs fires the main cannon of Libra at the Earth, causing great damage to the planet. This prompts Treize to start gathering all of the military power he can muster from Earth's forces to retaliate, consisting mostly of Space capable Leo Mobile suits, while the Gundam pilots remain neutral.
The White Fang try to fire the cannon again this time at Treize, who is leading the assault in the rebuilt Tallgeese II. When the cannon is fired, it actually hits the rebuilt Wing Gundam, destroying its lower half. The pilot of the Gundam is revealed to be Lady Une. The White Fang then continue to take it to the Earth forces by taking out the only remaining OZ base in space, Space Fortress Barge. Eventually, the Gundam pilots choose to fight against the White Fang. Zechs decides to move in towards Earth to finish it off, but is stopped when the Gundams and Zechs' old friend, Howard, ram their ship, Peacemillion, into Libra's main cannon, taking it out permanently. During the epic final battle, Treize is killed in battle against Wufei, while Heero fights against Zechs one last time. Their battle is broadcast to all of Earth and space. When the citizens see the battle, they put aside their differences, whether from the colonies or from earth, and form what becomes the Earth Sphere Unified Nation. However, the Zechs and the White Fang refuse to surrender and attempts to send the wreckage of Libra and Peacemillion plunging down to Earth. After several attempts from the other four Gundams to prevent this, Heero intercepts the battle station's remains as it enters Earth's atmosphere and destroys it with Wing Zero's twin buster rifle, bringing an end to the war. After the war, The Gundam pilots attempt to live normal lives, and Relena reassumes her family name of Darlian, and begins work as the new Vice Foreign Minister. As she boards a shuttle heading for space on her birthday, she finds that someone had left her a teddy bear and birthday card. She looks out the shuttle window, only to see Heero removing his shuttle crewman's disguise.

Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ

Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ (機動戦士ガンダムΖΖ, Kidō Senshi Gandamu Daburu Zēta?, Mobile Suit Gundam Double Zeta) is a TV series aired on Japanese TV from 1986–1987, was the third Gundam series, and a direct follow up to Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam. Director Yoshiyuki Tomino returned to lead the series, and he assembled a new team consisting of character designer Hiroyuki Kitazume, who had been one of Zeta Gundam's animation directors, and mechanical designers Makoto Kobayashi, Yutaka Izubuchi and Mika Akitaka. The series was later aired by the anime satellite television network, Animax, across Japan and later its respective networks worldwide, including Southeast Asia, Hong Kong, South Asia, and other regions, but is one of the few Gundam series which has never been brought to the United States.

Overview
Gundam ZZ was conceived of as a sequel to Zeta Gundam, featuring a mostly all-new cast. Tomino originally wanted to make Char the main character[citation needed] before receiving the "okay" on Char's Counterattack. Its broadcast immediately followed that of Zeta Gundam and continues to follow a major plotline from Zeta involving Haman Karn, regent to Mineva Lao Zabi, and also continues to follow Captain Bright Noa and the ship, Argama, as well as introducing the new characters led by Judau Ashta.
This sequel to Zeta Gundam sometimes struck a much lighter, often comical, tone, in contrast to its predecessor's brooding melodrama. For example, in the second episode, the protagonist Judau Ashta attempts to help Yazan Gable by throwing oranges at the Argama. This is contrasted in the same episode however when Yazan kills the technician Saegusa, and Judau then attempts to pilot the Zeta Gundam to go after Yazan but is incredibly poor at combat in his first battle. The whimsical first opening theme song Anime Ja Nai (lit. "It's Not Anime") set the tone for the first half of the series. The second half of the series sports a more somber opening theme song. Silent Voice.
The show scored high ratings with the younger, more casual audiences, and the show's first opening theme Anime Ja Nai became extremely popular[citation needed] and is sometimes mentioned as one of the most memorable anime songs of all time. Although previously frowned upon by many fans of Zeta Gundam, with recent exposure through various media, Double Zeta has begun to receive better reception from the fan base than before
Plot summary
As the continuation of Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam, this series once again follows the story of the Anti Earth Union Group (AEUG) battleship Argama after Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam's final episode. To fight off the Axis Zeon, now called the Neo Zeon, Captain Bright Noa recruits a group of teenage junk collectors led by the loudmouthed but powerful Newtype Judau Ashta to pilot the Argama's mobile suits. Now sporting a line-up of the behemoth ZZ Gundam and the returning Zeta Gundam, Gundam Mk-II and the Hyaku Shiki, the gup is nicknamed the Gundam Team. As such, this became the first of a number of Gundam series where a team of Gundam mobile suits fight alongside each other regularly. The climax takes place at Side 3 in the Battle of Axis.
Out of the major Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam characters, Captain Bright Noa and Axis leader Haman Karn are featured prominently in Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ; Hayato Kobayashi, Kamille Bidan, Fa Yuiry, Wong Lee, Yazan Gable, Mineva Lao Zabi, and the children Shinta and Qum are featured in various episodes as well; Sayla Mass, who had appeared in the first series but had no speaking role in Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam, also appeared in several episodes of Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ; Char Aznable's planned appearance was canceled when Tomino was given the go-ahead to do the Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack movie. Yoshiyuki Tomino's original plan for the show which involved Char's return was never revealed though Glemy's sudden change in motivation seems to give a hint that he fills in for him at the end, nor does Tomino himself remember it. Also, aside from the openings and story recap/preview episode, Amuro Ray does not make an appearance in the series either.

Plot summary
Set in a fictional universe in the Universal Century year 0087, eight years after the story told in Mobile Suit Gundam(0079), a group called AEUG secretly emerges from the Earth Federation and Zeon remnants. Their primary goal is to put an end to the actions of the Titans, the elite taskforce of the Earth Federation which was originally established to hunt down Zeon remnants but ruthlessly kills anyone demanding equal rights for the space citizens.
The story of Zeta Gundam is told through the viewpoint of Kamille Bidan, a civilian teenager and amateur mobile suit pilot whose parents are engineers working for the Earth Federation and the Titans. While traveling to the colony Green Noa to meet his parents, Kamille is insulted by and strikes a Titans officer, Jerid Messa. Following an AEUG attack led by Quattro Bajeena on the colony to capture the newly developed trio of Gundam Mk-II mobile suits being tested in Green Noa, Kamille takes the opportunity to steal Messa's Mk-II to repel the attack and follows Quattro back to Argama, the mothership of the AEUG. When the Titans take civilian hostages -including Kamille's parents- in an attempt to force the return of the stolen Gundam Mk-II's, Jerid, unaware of the hostage plot, mistakenly kills them, leading Kamille to join the AEUG to fight against Titans.
As the war escalates, Kamille encounters people from all sides of the conflict, including brainwashed artificial Newtypes of Titans and the giant corporation leaders of Anaheim Electronics who are secretly funding AEUG. The AEUG eventually launch a full-scale attack on the Earth Federation's assembly at Dakar, leading to an Earth Sphere civil war. Quattro reveals himself to be Char Aznable and presents evidence of the Titans' tyranny including using a nerve gas called G3 on a defenseless colony. The Earth Federation court soon rules the Titans' actions to be illegal and backs the AEUG in hunting down Titans leader Jamitov Hymem.
After losing the support from the Earth Federation, the Titans turn to their original enemy, remnants of the Principality of Zeon now known as Axis Zeon, in an effort to form an alliance to regain control of the Earth Sphere. Axis Zeon's leader Haman Karn contacts the AEUG, using the civil war of the Earth Federation at hand to politically ask for the control of Side 3, the former Zeon colony.
Axis involvement and Jamitov's assassination by the Jupiter fleet's leader Paptimus Scirocco soon lead to a battle to gain control of the colony headquarters of the Titans, Gryps, which has been modified to be a colony laser. The war ends when Kamille, piloting the titular mobile suit Z Gundam, kills Scirocco in battle and the AEUG sinks Scirocco's flagship and most of the Titans' fleet.
The series concludes with both the AEUG and Earth Federation, after suffering considerable losses over the course of the war facing the full force of Axis Zeon, leading into Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ.
